Among its products and know-how, ABEILLON has developed and produced a whole range of table reading lamps used in surface ships and submarines as well as in land intervention vehicles acting on military operations fields.

To meet the requirements of certain customers, and according to the configuration of the table reading lamp, validation tests have been carried out in order to assess the compliance of the product in relation to representative standards of the application or frequently requested application.

By taking the example of the reading lamp on a variable bi-color ABEILLON table, tests were carried out according to the compliance standards of the electrical links and in terms of:

• MIL-STD-810F: This standard describes levels of requirements in terms of mechanical hold and sealing in rainwater
• MIL-STD-461 E V 1999: This standard describes levels of requirements in terms of emission and radios waves
• MIL-STD-1275: This standard describes requirements to ensure the compatibility of the lamp with the electrical energy distribution system on the military platforms of land vehicles

Compliance of table reading lamps

The assessment of compliance in water watering has been the subject of water projection tests according to flow, distance, dimensioning of ejection nozzle, water temperature and predefined watering duration.

Mechanical hold tests consisted in subjected the vibration lamp over a period of 40 minutes and shocks in the three X, Y directions, Z. These mechanical tests were carried out by means of a vibrant table equipped with accelerometers and its piloting system.

After carrying out tests aimed at checking the quality of the electrical connection between the mass plan and the different constituent mechanical elements, the following tests were carried out:

• Conduction of radio waves emitted by the power cables, under normal operation of the lamp. These tests have been subject to current measurements and tension measurements linked to the conduction of radio waves.
• Radio waves radiation from the lamp, under normal operation of it. These trials have been the subject of magnetic field measurements emitted according to several positions and areas of the lamp.
• Radio waves radiation from the lamp, under the different operating modes. These tests have been the subject of electric field measurements issued, according to the vertical and horizontal axes of polarization lamp and according to an appropriate frequency range.

Other tests aimed at ensuring the compatibility of the lamp with the electrical energy distribution system (on the military platforms of land vehicles) were carried out. These tests cover:

Permanent functioning : the table reading lamp must operate normally when it is subject to lower and upper limits of the power supply network

Voltage ripple : The lamp must normally operate when subjected to a superimposed voltage ripple at the supply source.

Transitional disturbances : tension peaks

• Voltage peaks exported in the equipment: the lamp must operate without degradation or damage when it is subject to voltage peaks (described in the Mil-STD1275 §5.4.2.3) standard)
• Exported voltage peaks of the equipment: during the switching operation of the lamp (starting or stopping), the voltage must remain within the limits of the model defined in the standard

Transitional disturbances : overvoltages

• Overvites imported into the equipment: the lamp must operate without degradation or damage when it is subject to the overvoltages described in the standard.
• Overvites exported by the equipment: During the operation by switching the lamp (starting or stopping), the voltage must remain within the limits of the model defined in the standard.

All of the tests summarily described previously were carried out by a specialized laboratory independent of the ABEILLONcompany. All physical measures have been the subject of the writing of a detailed report incorporating the measurement conditions, the materials used, the detailed results in the form of tables or curves, as well as the conclusions.
